The question everyone wants know?
When is it going to snow in Europe or do I need to book a flight to the States?
The short answer is this weekend.
But given the season so far you would be right to be skeptical. I have a few apps and websites I refer to when trying to work out when it will snow, but as is the way with weather prediction they aren’t confident looking too far in to the future.
They currently do all agree that it will start snowing here on Sunday and continue to do so for at least a week.
They all also agree that the snow line will remain about 1000mtrs to start with, but it will not necessarily be the heaviest snow fall. With about 30cm falling in the first 4 days. Beyond that though there is not much detail to be found other than the wintery weather is expected to continue.
This is all due to the big knot of isobars you can see in the image below, hanging out over the north Atlantic. I think pushing some of the cold weather North America has been having our way. No matter where it comes from, I am happy that we have a change on the way, as it’s no secret the start to this season has been somewhat disappointing. Not the worst I have experienced here, but far from the best either.
