We have listed some of the typical questions we often get asked by guests before and during their stay.
Our aim is to make your holiday in Morzine as stress free as possible! We want you to ski, hike, bike or relax in peace.
If you have a question about lift passes, activities, food, airport transfers, flights, ski hire, bike hire or anything else - then please get in touch with us.
The Essentials
Where can I organise ski hire?
We work with a fabulous company called Doorstep Skis and you can benefit from fantastic discounts as one of our guests. These great guys will come directly to the chalet when you arrive and fit your skis/snowboard and boots there and then to ensure the beginning of your holiday gets off to the most relaxing start possible. Just contact us if you would like a copy of the Doorstep Skis information pack including the great discounts you will benefit from.
Where can I buy my lift pass?
Don’t fear - there is no need to queue for hours. We can arrange to have your ski pass ready and waiting on your arrival at the chalet so you can bypass all the hassle and just start enjoying your stay the second you arrive at one of our gorgeous ski chalets.
How do I book ski lessons or ski guides?
Just ask us and we can recommend a whole host of ski and snowboard schools for all ages and abilities, who will be able to help you to hone your skills on the mountain. We can also recommend ski and snowboard guides who will ensure you make the most out of your days in this beautiful wonderland.
do I need insurance?
We recommend that all of our guests organise appropriate insurance before they come to stay. Remember, normal travel insurance will not be enough if you are taking part in any mountain sports during your stay and you will need to ensure you get adequate cover.
We also advise that you obtain a valid EHIC card before leaving home but you may need to be prepared as these can take up to 4 weeks to arrive. We would be happy to discuss any queries you have about insurance cover for your stay with us.
Travel & Check-in
What are the check in and check out times?
You can check into our chalets from 4pm and check out on your departure day at 10am. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee there will be a shower available in the afternoon if you would like to ski on your last day but we will always be as flexible as possible to allow you to fit in the maximum time on the hill.
We completely understand that these times will not always ideally suit your travel plans and so we are more than flexible with holding your bags and letting you into the chalet as soon as we can. Also, if you are arriving late, we can always have some delicious food waiting – you won’t ever go hungry while staying with us!
Can Mountain Mavericks provide transfers?
We can provide return transfers to and from Geneva airport for just €65 per person. If you would like us to quote you for a private transfer, please do just get in touch and we will be more than happy to discuss all of your travel requirements.
How will I get to and from the slopes each day?
We offer a mini bus service for all of our chalet guests, which will take you to the slopes each morning and pick you up in the afternoon. All of our chalets are also conveniently located on bus routes to allow you even more flexibility.
With the kids
What cots do you have?
We have 2 wooden cots and 4 travel cots - we also have sheets, blankets and sleeping bags if needed.
Do all rooms have baths?
No, there is 1 room in each chalet with a bath. If available this will be allocated to families with babies first. We have some baby baths that can be used easily in the showers / en-suites.
How can I prepare a bottle in the middle of the night without disturbing other guests?
We can make sure you have everything you need in your room - kettle, little fridge anything to make it easier.
Should we buy helmets for the children?
There is no need to, our ski hire company Doorstep Ski’s provide helmets which are adjustable and made to fit perfectly.
How many layers do we make sure the children have on? I don’t want them to be too cold or too hot!
Our team will be able to guide you as to how cold it’ll be up the mountain. Generally it’s easier to ‘dump’ heat than make it and if you layer up you can easily remove them. Try to buy really waterproof resistant outer layers (that has a minimum of 2,000 ml) and wear only water wicking resistant fabrics next to the skin. We can also advise you on all parts of your kit! Just ask!
The Chalets
What happens on the staff day off?
While they are very happy seeing to your every need throughout the week, during your stay with us your chalet staff will also have a day off. On this day our minibus service will still be available to take you to and from the slopes. The chalet staff will leave you out a selection of breakfast foods so you won’t go hungry before a long day on the hill!
In the evening, our minibus can take you into Morzine town where you can sample one of the town’s many amazing restaurants. We will of course be more than happy to book a table for you at a restaurant that suits your desired style. There is a wide range of typical Savoyard eateries along with both family friendly and high-end restaurants from which you can choose.
We can also arrange a babysitter to take care of your children at the chalet if you would rather a night on the town with just the grown ups.
Who will I be staying with in the chalet?
We work hard to ensure that our guests are well suited to each other and we also run special weeks if you would like to ensure you are staying with like-minded people.
