Morzine is located in a stunning alpine valley at an altitude of 1000m and has direct access to some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the massive Portes du Soleil, some argue the best skiing and snowboarding in the world!
Morzine is ideal for every ability of skier or snowboarder, from the family friendly blues of Les Gets and Pleney to the off piste and freestyle parks of Avoriaz and beyond. And there over 650km of piste to explore, with Switzerland only over the valley – you can explore all day and never repeat the same run!
The Portes du Soleil area, essentially comprising of 12 different resorts, not only has the complete range of terrain, but there are also a good range of choices for each level. So even as a nervous or first time skier you have a choice to visit a number of suitable areas and Morzine-Avoriaz is the best place to access them from.
There are a wide range of red and black runs or if it’s distance you’re looking to cover then completing the Portes du Soleil circuit is an exciting day challenge for many. The circuit will take you on a route through the lovely ski areas of Chatel, Morgins and Champery all in one day. Phew!
The sheer vastness of the area of the Portes du Soleil means there are loads of opportunities to venture off piste without having to go too far and there are a number of guides we can put you in touch with who can help you venture much further.
If you prefer to spend your time in the park, Avoriaz being the first place in Europe to build a park, has a long history of providing world class facilities and a close relationship with Burton ensures the current offering is up to scratch. This currently includes 3 levels of park, the Stash and a pipe. Across the rest of the Portes du Soleil there are other world class parks, as well as numerous other smaller ones.

As well as incredible slopes Morzine also has a lot of activities to keep the non skiers busy too. Activities such as snow shoeing, ice climbing, parapenting, hiking, sledging, ice skating and swimming are all available in Morzine during the winter months and if all that seems to much like hard work there is always horse and carriage rides around the resort or horse and sleigh rides in Avoriaz.
