Summer Events in Morzine. What’s on?
Morzine is one of the most popular alpine destinations in the summer months. With a thriving town after the snow melts, the mountains turn into a haven of adventure activities and relaxation, surrounded by outstanding beauty.
The town also attracts a huge array of events, and 2016 is looking like the best year yet for Morzine! Take a look to see Mountain Mavericks picks for events in Morzine this summer.
Firstly we have a little thing called Le Tour de France!
Arguably the toughest competition in sport, Morzine hosts the second last stage of the biggest biking competition in the world. Grueling the steep mountain hills of the Alps, stage 20 of Le Tour de France races from Megeve to Morzine on Saturday 23rd July. For those who are new to Le Tour de France – this could well be the most exciting stage of the competition and might decide who wins the Yellow Jersey. This is an intense final stage including two exhausting climbs up the Col de Joux Plane & Col de Ramaz. The energy will be electric in Morzine.

Reebok Spartan Race – France
Are you fit enough? This year Morzine hosts the Reebok Spartan Race which is the ultimate challenge to test your fitness. Like the incredible Tough Mudder competitions around the world, this years obstacle course will challenge even the fittest of competitors. Expect some great action!

Crankworx, Les Gets. 15 – 19th June
Crankworx is arguably the biggest and most extreme mountain bike competition on earth. With jumps which any architect would class as a work of art, riders which seem super human and a party that rivals any festival – this is an event you don’t want to miss. No matter how much your into biking!
The Pleney lifts open on 11th June so you’ll get the full riding experience!

Pass Portes du Soleil. 24 – 26th June
You may have seen on a previous Mountain Mavericks Blog about the famous Pass ‘Portes du Soleil?
Well the endurance bike competition around the whole of the Portes du Soleil ski area is back and bigger than ever. Registration has sold out for Morzine, but many other resorts around the PDS have entrants left. Alternatively come out and ride the course outside of the competition.
